Help Needed in Chesterfield Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield.

We’re looking for current serving officers, or rejoiners, who are wanting to make a move to join us here at Derbyshire Constabulary. Whether that be due to life changes or because they are seeking a different challenge.

We are a force that offers fresh opportunities. We’re focused on ensuring our staff feel valued, safe and rewarded. Development is important to us, and we do everything we can to provide learning opportunities and training so that there can be continued growth within our staff's policing careers, and as individuals.

How to apply

Our ideal candidates would show dedication, have experience and a drive to support a diverse community.

If you know of anybody considering a transfer or rejoining please refer them to our careers website where they will find information on the recruitment process and more information about what we can offer them as a force.

The ‘Warmer Derby & Derbyshire’ energy helpline 0800 677 1332, supported by DCC and Derby City council, provides free impartial energy bills/tariffs/efficiency advice through the Covid-19 crisis.

We’d very much like to let people know we’re still available – especially as many will be worrying about higher bills given so many of us are stuck in the house. It’s harder than ever to get through to energy companies, prepay customers will be anxious about going out to top-up, while many more people find themselves on reduced incomes and Universal Credit.

In summary we can :

  1. 3-way phone call negotiations with energy companies and customers
  2. Phone /video-call support & advice as appropriate
  3. Postal delivery – info leaflets, small measures (LED bulbs, insulation tape etc) , thermometers
  4. Crisis fund  - for top ups, warming devices, other costs where people are desperate (some verification by referral agent or other advocate may be required)
  5. Take details for post-Covid referral for loft & cavity-wall insulation etc if wanted
  6. Referral for emergency central heating (ECHO) – getting broken systems fixed/replaced
