Due to the outbreak of Covid-19, the Links Board of Directors has made the decision to temporarily close the office until further notice in order to minimise any potential risk to our staff and VCS group representatives in support of the official attempt to slow down the pandemic. If there are any changes, we will keep you informed.

Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area. 

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours. 

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

The Foundation has been monitoring the impact of COVID-19 on their grantees and applicants. These findings are based on conversations with over 300 charities and analysis of those responses to identify themes and trends as well as feedback from the development and grant making teams.

Managing Discipline and Grievance – East Midlands Training

This digital event is designed to provide you with an overview of the Acas Code of Practice and the key skills you need to confidently manage discipline and grievance procedures in your workplace.

This two-hour session will be delivered digitally via Zoom, with a choice of dates:

Chesterfield Borough Council: Discretionary grants for local businesses - Deadline: 17th June 2020

Chesterfield Borough Council has been awarded £1.27 million from the Government to provide discretionary grants to some local businesses who were not eligible to receive funding from the Small Business Rates Grant or Retail, Hospitality or Leisure Grants. Small businesses can apply for grants of up to £25,000, though the council expects that most grant payments will be in the range of £2,500 to £10,000

George Bairstow Charitable Trust 

The George Bairstow Charitable Trust (GBCT) awards grants to registered charities for:

  • the provision of Emergency Aid in communities
  • the encouragement of volunteering among young people
  • the enhancement of skills among young people.

The Trustees of the GBCT acknowledge the unique challenges faced by the world at this current time and remain 'open for business', welcoming new, small grant applications.

Pebble Grant - The Rank Foundation

If you are raising money for a particular project for which the mainstay is capital costs (building work, refurbishment or the purchase of long-term equipment) or a one-off short-term activity (such as an annual respite break or holiday for disadvantaged young people) and have already raised a third of the total costs, you may be eligible for a Pebble Grant from the Rank Foundation:

  • Are you making a funding application on behalf of either a UK-based Charity, CIC, CIO, CBS or Cooperative that is registered with the Charities' Commission and/or Companies House?
  • Are you looking for funding for a capital works or a short breaks programme which will benefit UK residents and take place in the UK?
  • Are the total costs of your project £150K or lower?
  • Have you already raised at least 1/3rd of the project costs and your organisation's income is below £500K?

Funding Successes


Congratulations to the Asian Association of Chesterfield & North Derbyshire for being awarded a grant from The National Lottery Community Fund - Reaching Communities of £21,866 for their new Covid-19 Meals on Wheels activity.  Their Meals on Wheels project will provide fresh, healthy, and affordable meals three days a week for older and vulnerable people with no ethnicity or cultural bar.  More information will be available soon.
