Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

#NeverMoreNeeded Campaign - Dismantling Racism in Charities and the Voluntary Sector Joint Statement

36 charity sector leaders have signed a joint statement on the problem of race inequality in society and our sector, and the impact this has on our staff, our volunteers and the communities we are here to serve.

Systemic racism and discrimination in the UK directly and indirectly leads to poorer life chances, deeper health inequalities and greater risks being carried within BAME communities, and those challenges are exacerbated when our sector fails to address its own problems of race inequality.

DSC - CEO Debra Allcock Tyler Article

The Directory of Social Change CEO Debra Allcock Tyler has responded to Voice for Change England and Acevo’s report ‘Home Truths: undoing racism and delivering real diversity in the charity sector’ examining white privilege and how to bring about real change.

Tools and techniques for problem-solving and decision-making - Thursday 2nd July

Effective problem-solving saves time and money, supports organisational learning and development, reduces stress and supports effective working relationships. Einstein said, “We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking that created them.” So, we have to be a bit more creative in our thinking and look at problems in new ways.

Moving into fundraising - Thursday 6 August

On this course you will spend time learning how an effective fundraiser works. You will look at current fundraising opportunities and how you can make sure that your charity is fundraising from areas that return the most investment. You will then apply your learnings to create a fundraising strategy for your own charity.

Funding News

NatWest Social and Community Capital

NatWest Social and Community Capital are launching a £1m Coronavirus Response Fund on Monday 22 June. Grants of between £5,000 and £50,000 will be available to organisations across the UK that employ people from vulnerable or disadvantaged groups. Applications will open through NatWest’s websites at 9am on Monday 22 June and the fund will stay open for at least one week.

The Morrisons Foundation COVID-19 Homeless Support Fund

In recognition of the fact that the homeless are particularly vulnerable to COVID-19 because of increased likelihood of underlying health conditions and less access to basic sanitation, the Morrisons Foundation Trustees have pledged £500,000 towards its Homeless Support Fund. Registered charities that serve the homeless through outreach and support; delivery of services in hostels and shelters; and/ or the provision of information and advice can apply for grants to a maximum of £10,000. Applications are being considered on a weekly basis until the £500,000 emergency fund is depleted. After this, homeless charities are still welcome to submit applications for support under the established grant funding process.
