Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

Governance Advice & Updates

Chancellor Announces New Support Package

There is still no news from the Chancellor on the missing chunks of the £650m promised to charities back on 8 April, but his announcement today may impact positively on some charities.

Key measures announced today include:

  • A £1,000 bonus to employers who have brought furloughed staff back to work
  • VAT reduced to 5% on food, accommodation and attractions
  • A range of packages to get young people back into work

More interestingly for the wider sector may be the (surprisingly brief) mention of a £32bn increase in the funding going to Local Authorities.

Charity sector ‘will inevitably shrink in the immediate future’

NCVO’s UK Civil Society Almanac 2020, which was published today, reveals that income growth has been driven by an increase in income from the public – via the fundraising and trading activity which has been most severely impacted by the Covid-19 crisis.
