Summer Activities for Children in Chesterfield Survey

Are you organising summer activities for children and families?

We would like to hear about them so that we can spread the news.

If you would like to be included please complete the survey below.

Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

Community update vol2 Bolsover 20.07.2020

Please find a press release about the work going on behind the scenes to help provide healthy food for children and their families during the school summer holidays in Derbyshire. Without funding from Feeding Britain and our partners FareShare Midlands and Central England Cooperative we wouldn’t have been able to provide this much needed food. But the money is only for the summer holidays. We need to fundraise to be able to continue to provide the support to the clubs to cover the other school holidays in October, Christmas, February and Easter so we are asking people to support our fundraising campaign too.

All money raised is to be shared between local groups and the church.

Its also a celebration of sorts, with local people helping deliver 650 SNAG boxes, providing nearly 2000 meals in Shirebrook–since lockdown back in March this year - truly amazing stuff!!

Crowd control will be in place, to ensure social distancing is maintained.

Come along and say hello

Borderline Arts focuses specifically on Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). They use arts and creativity to raise awareness of this often misunderstood mental health conditionn and to tackle the stigma that surrounds it.

They have launched a postcard project and would like to invite anyone with Borderline Personality Disorder (anywhere in the world!) to join in with this new venture!

They are asking for participants to send them postcard-sized (150 mm x 105 mm, landscape) pieces of art created in any medium: pencil, paint, collage, photography etc. The artwork can be of anything at all, as long as it is a positive or neutral image, which is suitable to give as a ‘thank you’ gift!!

These postcards will be used in 2 ways:

Digital Montage: Photographs of these postcards will be compiled together as a digital wall montage on the Borderline Arts website, to showcase the artwork, promote you as artists and hopefully inspire others to also get involved!

Thank You Cards: Borderline Arts will use the physical copies of the postcards as thank you cards to give to those who support Borderline Arts. They hope that receiving a message written on a one-of-a-kind postcard created by someone with BPD will be really special for them to receive (and hopefully it will be special for you to have been part of that too!).

Visit to find out to take part.

Borderline Arts have lots of other exciting projects for Spring/Summer 2020, you can find out more HERE.

The Community Business Festival organised by Power to Change will be 13-14 August this year.

Although it'll be online this year, there will be lots of learning & networking opportunities - do get involved

First Steps ED Office Equipment Donations

First Steps ED is moving to new premises on Vernon Gate, Derby in August and they have a range of office furniture including office desks, filing cabinets and a small number of desk top computers surplus to requirements and will happily donate to VCSE partner organisations if they would like to view and arrange collection.

Their offices at 16 Agard Street, DE1 1DZ can be viewed by appointment by contacting and following our Covid-19-Secure guidelines.

All equipment is in good order and serviceable condition and they are seeking new homes for reuse rather than having to recycle and this offer is available until Friday 21st August.

Although Timber Fest 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they have come together to celebrate trees, woodlands and the natural world. They have created a forest soundmap, using hundreds of recordings from across the globe. Timber Fest are collecting the sounds of woodlands and forests from all around the world, creating a beautiful soundmap bringing together aural tones and textures from the world’s woodlands. They invite you to visit your local forest or woodland, and record one minute of the sounds that you hear. If you already have existing recordings of forests then these can be submitted too. To explore the soundmap Click Here. To contribute to the soundmap Click Here.
