Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

The Commissioner held a Meet With Your Commissioner event for the North East Derbyshire area on the 21st July 2020.

Previous events around the county were held in the community but due to the current pandemic this was held completely online. Attendees were still  presented with all the relevant information as if this meeting was held in the community.

The Commissioner outlined the concerns raised in your local area following the completion of his tour of Derbyshire where he visited 383 towns, villages and neighbourhoods. He then explained the steps taken to address these matters.

The full meeting is available to view here https://youtu.be/t65EDaQ5qD0

Both these courses will be delivered by Jenny from ‘Community Chesterfield’. Jenny has over fifteen years working in the third sector in key management and relationship building roles, for both small and large organisations including ‘Pathways to Health’ ‘British Red Cross’ and ‘National Trust’. In that time she has prioritised working collaboratively as a leader with disparate stakeholders. Over the past five years she has also worked as a trainer, delivering training to volunteers, staff at both a local and regional level.

Take the Plastic Free Pledge and #BuildBackBetter for the planet

Did you know that...

  • The UK uses a staggering 38.5 million single-use plastic bottles every day
  • In the UK, we use 7 million disposable coffee cups every day
  • Food and drink related plastic items now make up one in every five pieces of litter
  • It's thought between five and 13 million tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean every year
  • 100,000 marine mammals and turtles and 1 million seabirds are killed by plastic pollution annually

Take action - take the Plastic Free Pledge

Join in the Chesterfield community working together to reduce single-use plastic pollution

The Plastic Free Pledge states that you:

  • Work to remove at least three single-use plastic items from your day to day activities (if you don't use any single-use plastic in your group/organisation then you can qualify)
  • Commit to include your stance on single-use plastic in your communications internally and externally
  • Promote Plastic Free Chesterfield and plastic-free activities, events and initiatives
