Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

Governance Advice & Updates

Charity policy teams are among least diverse part of the sector, Acevo policy head says

In a blog post for the equality campaign group #CharitySoWhite, Kristiana Wrixon said that in her experience, “policy departments in ‘mainstream’ charities are one of the whitest, middle-class, non-disabled, heteronormative parts of the voluntary sector workforce”.

Funding News

Magic Little Grants 2020 - Deadline: 31st October 2020

Magic Little Grants will be awarding over 900 grants of £500 to community projects. Successful projects will support and inspire people to participate in sports or exercise. Applications will receive a decision on their application and, if successful, the funding within two months of submission. There are only around 200 Magic Little Grants left so please get your applications in ASAP!

Important Coronavirus Update

  • Organisations now have longer than 12 months to spend the grant and they do not require specific dates for projects that you would like them to support. They want the funding to be able to be used flexibly and trust that you will deliver projects only when it is safe to do so.
  • They are happy to support projects that support people to stay active during social distancing, such as online fitness classes delivered via video conferencing software or Youtube.

Derbyshire County Council - Small Grants for Falls Awareness - Deadline: 21st September 2020

Derbyshire County Council’s Falls Prevention Social Marketing Campaign has relaunched across Derbyshire. As part of this campaign, they are running a small grants scheme to support local activities, especially amongst community groups, teams and services who are not usually involved in falls prevention work. They would welcome applications from across Derbyshire but are particularly interested in those people who live and work in areas with higher numbers of fallers. These are High Peak, Chesterfield, South Derbyshire and Amber Valley.
