Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

Derbyshire Home Library Service

A free home delivery service to Derbyshire residents who are unable to visit a library either on a permanent or temporary basis.

The service is for anyone who can't visit a library and does not have anyone who can borrow and return items for them. This could be due to:

  • disability
  • limited mobility
  • illness
  • caring responsibilities

When you apply for the service, they will contact you to talk about your needs, and find out what you like to read and listen to. There is a waiting list due to the Covid pandemic.

Currently the frequency of visits will be once every 8 weeks by a home library assistant. They will no longer come into your home.

Free Family Holidays for Key Workers

Do you know a family, NHS or frontline worker in your area who has been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic and needs a break?

As part of the nation’s emotional and wellbeing recovery from the pandemic, the national charity YHA (England and Wales) wants to give away free holidays to families in our area.

Breaks have been funded from donations from members of the public to YHA’s Project90 appeal which was launched as part of the youth hosteling charity’s 90th anniversary celebrations.

Conscious that fewer people can now afford a break because of the pandemic, YHA particularly wants to hear from families that have been financially impacted in the crisis and are in need of some quality family time together.

The breaks are available at YHA’s network of youth hostels in England and Wales in both coastal and rural locations.

If you know of a family that would benefit from a short break away, let YHA know at
