Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Programme

Erewash Voluntary Action are delivering this programme across Derbyshire on behalf of Derbyshire County Council.

The aims are:

  • To increase awareness of mental health issues in targeted populations.
  • To reduce male suicide rates, particularly in young to middle aged men.
  • To embed a positive culture for mental health and wellbeing within organisations.
  • To reduce self-harm.

Men are 3 times more likely to take their own life than women.  In Derbyshire 80% of people living with a mental illness never seek treatment.  Poor mental health costs workplaces up to £45billion per year.  Less than 1 in 5 men take time off work due to poor mental health.

The Offer:

  • Fully funded Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Training.
  • Expert support to develop a tailored Mental Health Policy and Action Plan.
  • Exclusive access to a Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Toolkit.
  • Support in signing up to national mental health charters and accreditations.

The programme will support children, young people and young to middle aged men in nonclinical settings such as: Amateur football clubs; Amateur rugby clubs; Amateur cricket clubs ;Independent boxing gyms and fitness centres; Routine and manual workplaces particularly in rural settings.

How has the pandemic affected your life?

The coronavirus pandemic is still affecting many aspects of our lives here in Derbyshire. Along with other public sector partners we want to find out what the pandemic has meant for you and your community.

We’ve set up an online survey so that you can tell us how you are feeling and what more we could do to help. Information given by you will help us understand more about the things we can do to support Derbyshire through the challenges of coronavirus.

The survey will take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and you can find it here. The survey closes on 6 November.

This questionnaire may also be available in other formats by emailing haveyoursay@derbyshire.gov.uk

Thanks so much for your help in completing the survey.

Do you have friends or family that just don't 'do' digital?

Now more than ever, being able to use a smart phone, tablet or laptop to get online is important. The pandemic means many services are now ONLY AVAILABLE online.

If you know anyone in Derbyshire that you think might benefit from some digital support then please ask them to get in touch with Rural Action Derbyshire (RAD). RAD can help them get online and stay safe online with access to their Cyber Buddies, a network of Digital Champions through Derbyshire.

You or they can call RAD (and leave a message) on 01629 592970 or email j.dugdale@ruralactionderbyshire.org.uk
