Help Needed in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire Survey

We know about the community groups that operate and the good work that you all do.  Sadly, we understand that many of you have had to close down due to the Coronavirus crisis.

We are now mapping the help that is available in your residential area.

However, there are still people needing help, mainly for shopping, collecting prescriptions, someone to talk to; and they could be your neighbours.

Are you doing this in your local area or do you know of any people who have got together and are offering neighbourly support to people in need?

We would be grateful if you could complete this survey so that you can be added to the list of help in Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire.

Free Family Holidays for Key Workers

Do you know a family, NHS or frontline worker in your area who has been adversely affected by the coronavirus pandemic and needs a break?

As part of the nation’s emotional and wellbeing recovery from the pandemic, the national charity YHA (England and Wales) wants to give away free holidays to families in our area.

Breaks have been funded from donations from members of the public to YHA’s Project90 appeal which was launched as part of the youth hosteling charity’s 90th anniversary celebrations.

Conscious that fewer people can now afford a break because of the pandemic, YHA particularly wants to hear from families that have been financially impacted in the crisis and are in need of some quality family time together.

The breaks are available at YHA’s network of youth hostels in England and Wales in both coastal and rural locations.

If you know of a family that would benefit from a short break away, let YHA know at

Supporting Unpaid Carers at Work Webinar

Derbyshire Carers Association (DCA) have teamed up with The University of Derby, the Chamber of Commerce and other major employers and SMEs to help support unpaid carers in employment.

Our online webinar provides an opportunity to learn about the issue of unpaid caring, how as an employer you can identify and support those who manage caring responsibilities alongside their work and introduces our Carers in Employment Initiative.

The Initiative aims to support and encourage organisations to recruit and retain those staff who, due to their unpaid caring responsibilities, are at risk of leaving the workforce as a result of stress, ill health, lack of understanding and/or simply lack of time.

As part of the Initiative, we will recruit organisations across Derbyshire, to sign up to our carers pledge and show their commitment to unpaid carers within their organisation. In signing the pledge, employers will benefit from free training, resources and ongoing support from DCA.

Derbyshire People's Voice Coronavirus (COVID-19) Survey

How has the pandemic affected your life?

The coronavirus pandemic is still affecting many aspects of our lives here in Derbyshire. Along with other public sector partners we want to find out what the pandemic has meant for you and your community.

We’ve set up an online survey so that you can tell us how you are feeling and what more we could do to help. Information given by you will help us understand more about the things we can do to support Derbyshire through the challenges of coronavirus.

The survey will take around 10 to 15 minutes to complete, and you can find it here. The survey closes on 6 November.

This questionnaire may also be available in other formats by emailing

Thanks so much for your help in completing the survey
